Econazole
is a synthetic imidazole derivative antifungal agent.
The nitrate salt is used for topical formulations.
Econazole makes the skin of the fungus (yeast) leaky.
This kills the fungus (yeast). This is used topically
for the treatment of certain dermatophytoses (ie.,
tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis), pityrasis(tinea)
versicolor and cutaneous candidiasis.
